Is it all in head?

Yesterday, I found quite an interesting philosophical argument that answered many a question. It opined, “The outer world is just a reflection of an inner world. Macrocosm is to microcosm.” So, it implies we have fallen morally, conscientiously and that’s why much that goes in mind, goes in the world. The sinister ways of the world always brew up a storm in my mind. Why? I always question …why such shameful instances tarnishing the very foundation of humanity take place. What right does one living being has to stifle the life of the other? Reading of rapes, molestation, denigration in everyday newspapers, one feels where are we all headed as a society? We are evolving as a society. We are becoming more open. I don’t know if this will help because the kind of openness the western society has, it makes me pity them. I don’t know if candour is American Beauty or shame; one thing I know of is that commodification is an accepted norm for the western society. Not that we are lagging behind, we are trying to follow the west.

The argument held a noticeable insight as to why we are degrading as a society. Why we are becoming unnatural(I’m referring to LGBT tendencies here. However, I feel sexual preferences are individual choices and I don’t hold anything against them. I would rather say this is nature’s way of checking the ever-burgeoning human population). The answer is the suppression of natural instincts. Sex remained a taboo for so long, suppressed in the hearts and minds and now it has come out all in open. It seems we as a society are exploring this long-suppressed instinct of ours, that’s why all kinds of incidents take place.

The worst aspect of this exploration is sleaziness and overt attention it grabs from all quarters of the society. No wonder, the West has a thriving sleazy business and the publishers of pornographic material have huge turnovers. We, as a society, are still naïve and instead of following the West, we should learn from the western example and aspire for a more open society with free thinking rather than going on to the beaten path that leads to the commodification of women and life-affirming process.
